CHOIR CURRICULUM

 

VOICE/SINGING

Students will demonstrate music expression and creation using proper vocal techniques, tone production and development, pitch discrimination, posture, diction, musicianship, ensemble skills, and sight singing skills, through daily classroom rehearsal and performance. 

 

HISTORY/CULTURE

Students will demonstrate an understanding of a variety of music literature from many different cultural heritages, religions, countries, styles, historical periods, genres and languages, through performance, discussion, listening and viewing opportunities, researching, critiquing and evaluating, focusing on the aesthetic and emotional value of the music.

 

MUSIC NOTATION/THEORY

Students will demonstrate an understanding of the language of music, through the mechanics of a vocal score including rhythm, pitch, symbols and vocabulary (style, dynamics, expression, tempo) through performance, discussion, written tests and creating musical compositions. 

 

PARTICIPATION

Students will positively participate in the ensemble by showing respect to everyone, following the rules and expectations, putting forth best effort, demonstrating a positive attitude and work effort, and becoming a productive and responsible team member of the choir.
